We have had a number of enquiries from both students and parents with regard - what type of device should be purchased to be able to learn in the new blended learning situation which is now envisaged for the 2020/21 academic year. Having explored these queries we decided it best to speak with the IT technicians across the Institute and come up with a few recommendations based on the different types of software used across the Institute. I have attached a recommendation sheet which we think offers you the type of devices that would cover these needs over your academic career here in CIT. While we have put these recommendations together, it is entirely up to you to make the purchasing decision but we would like to add that a lot of the devices that can be purchased ‘off the shelf’ do not have the specifications needed to carry a lot of the software that would be needed if labs are not accessible for assignment completion. We would also like you to note that the devices recommended come with a longer support model. On the recommendations sheet we also would like to draw your attention to the fact that Office is available free to all CIT students that are actively enrolled and that there is a very good offer to students from Malwarebytes (link provided on the recommendations sheet).
Please note if you have any queries with which device best suits your needs, please enquire with your local department technical team
Please Note: Offers are provided by Third Party companies, CIT do not support or endorse the products purchased. Faculty specific software may cost extra.
