An additional security verification window will appear. Here you have a number of of options available.
Select either to setup the MFA via a text message to a mobile phone number or via the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app.
Setup via text message

Setup via Mobile App 'Microsoft Authenticator'
To utilize Multi-Factor Authentication via a mobile device app, navigate to your device app store. Search for 'Microsoft Authenticator' app and install. (This application is free and was developed directly by Microsoft Corporation).
Once Multi-Factor Authentication has been enabled by an administrator on your account, authenticate as normal into the Office 365 portal.
Select 'Mobile App' from the drop down. You will be required to choose one of two options for using the mobile app:
1 - Receive notifications for verification - A popup will appear on your mobile device when an attempt is made to access your Office 365 account. You can quickly approve or deny access.
2 - Use verification Code - From within the mobile application note the current active 6 digit character. *Please note this code changes every 30 seconds.*
Once verification selection is made select the 'Set Up' Button.
A new window will appear which includes a QR Code. To complete this task you will now require your mobile device and Microsoft Authenticator installed.
From your mobile device, upon initial opening of the authenticator app you will be presented with the following windows.

- For the QR Code that is activate on your laptop/desktop device at present the mobile device application needs permissions to open the camera and take a picture of this QR Code to proceed.
Once the QR Code has been scanned successfully, the additional security verification page will attempt to check activation status.
Once notification that the mobile app has been configured successfully the 'Next' button will become active. Please select this button to proceed.
To fully ensure configuration is working successfully. Verification will proceed to your mobile device. You will receive a notification to your device, please approve this sign-in test.
As a secondary method of verification you will also be required to input your mobile phone number. This is to ensure that if no data is active on your mobile device, you will receive a backup text message with a verification code to enter for access. Please ensure you select the Ireland prefix and enter your mobile device number similar to one displayed below.
*Please note your mobile phone number will only be used for account security only, and will not be used for any other service.*
Finally, similar to the text message option, as CIT is running modern authentication via Office 2013, Office 2016 and Office ProPlus the next page pop-up step is not required for CIT users. This section displayed below is for app passwords. In some older applications like Office 2010 and Office for Mac including Apple Mail one would need to utilize different App passwords for different services.
Please proceed to select the 'Done' button. Your CIT account is now activated for multi-Factor Authentication going forward.
