The CIT Staff Gateway
CIT Gateway is the Institute's intranet site. This site provides a secure access point to all the information, resources and services that you need in the course of your working day. You can access the Gateway site by clicking here or by going to the CIT website and clicking on Gateway (Staff).
How to Log into the CIT Gateway
When you are prompted to log on to the CIT Gateway, follow these steps:
1. Type cit\ followed by your CIT username, e.g. cit\firstname.surname.
2. Enter your staff email/Windows password in the password field.
Note: If you are already logged into the CIT domain you will be logged in to the Gateway automatically.
Using the CIT Gateway Site
The site is fairly straightforward to use but to help you get started here are a few simple pointers:
Home page: When you log on to the site you will be presented with the Gateway home page. This consists of 5 areas: Staff Services, Documents, Announcements, Applications (Popular Items) and an I want to... section
1. Staff Services
There are a number of different options available to choose from in the Staff Services section, such as checking e-mail accounts, accessing core for payroll information, IT support, Web for Faculty, Blackboard, Timetables, Course Builder, My Sites and Staff Search. By clicking one of these links you will be directed to the relevant page.
On CIT Gateway you will have access to a number documents. Only certain users have rights to add documents to this part of the page but they can be viewed by all staff members. The user can view documents relating to Academic Affairs, Governance and Management and Systems and Infrastructure. These document links are located on the left hand side of the screen. By clicking on one of these links you will be brought to a page containing relevant documents. If you wish to add documents to this section of the page please e-mail email@example.com
The Announcements section will display official announcements. You can add announcements by clicking on the Add New Announcement link on the main page. You will also see the announcements that have been placed up there by other staff members under Institute announcements. An email will be sent out to staff members when an announcement is placed on the Gateway. Any attachments added to the announcement will be available from the Gateway, which helps to prevent clogging up staff mailboxes.
4. Applications (Popular Items) and I want to... Sections
The Applications area is intended to provide direct access to the most popular documents within the CIT Gateway.
In the bottom right-hand side of the screen there is an area where staff members can choose from a selection of options such as booking a meeting room or topping up their CIT card. There are also more links which you can choose from by selecting the option More Links.
If you would like to return to the main page you can click on the Navigate Up button (an icon of a folder with a green arrow) which is displayed in the top left-hand corner of the page. This will give you the option to navigate back to a previous page or let you go all the way back to the home page. If this navigate button is not displayed you can click on the Staff Gateway link which appears on the top of the page. If you do not wish to navigate up and wish to go directly back to the home page you can simply click Gateway Home.
6. Search This Site/Staff Searches
In the top right-hand corner of the screen there is a search box where you can enter text which will then be searched for on the site.
This can be used to find something quickly and efficiently.
To perform a staff search for a specific member of staff, click on the Staff Search link within Staff Services and you will be brought to another page in which you can enter the name of the staff member. You can enter the staff member's name by selecting an option from the drop down menu and entering the first name or second name and then clicking the Search button. When you click on the person's name, you will be shown their page containing details such as a picture, their office location, contact number, department and mobile. The user will see a blue link entitled (link to My Site). When the user clicks on this link the staff members page will be displayed.
7. Logging Off
To log off from the Gateway you must go to the top right-hand section of the page where you will see your name displayed. Click on this text and you will be presented with a menu with a number of options including Sign Out. Click this option and you will be logged off from the Gateway.
