Transferring Content Between Phones

Got a new handset recently?

Need to transfer content?

Not sure on how to do it?

Follow the guide below to learn how to do this.

Samsung Smart Switch

Samsung Smart Switch is the easiest and most straight forward of the these Apps that I've used.

1 - Download Smart Switch from the Google Play Store/Galaxy Apps on BOTH Android devices. Apple devices don't need this download.

tip - Galaxy Apps is faster to download as you don't need a Google account created to get it.

2 - Make sure that BOTH devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi.

3 - Open the App on Both Devices (Except iPhone) and select 'Send' for the old handset and 'Receive' for the new handset.

    4 - Select 'Wireless'.

5 - Select the content you want to copy across by ticking the boxes.

Tip - a lot of apps are already built into the new handsets so only  select the ones you went out of your way to get i.e Instagram etc.

6 - Select Transfer on the old handset and select approve on the new handset and watch the magic happen.

iPhones - Please see 'IOS Backup & Restore' guide to learn how to backup IOS Data

1 - Download Smart switch on the new handset.

2 - Select 'Wireless', then 'IOS'.

            3 - Enter iCloud Details.

4 - Select backup you want to download and watch the magic happen.

Phone Clone

Phone Clone is another good transfer app created by Huawei

1 - Download Smart Switch from the Google Play Store/Galaxy Apps on BOTH Android devices. Download for Apple devices as well.

2 - Make sure that BOTH devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi.

3 - Open the App on Both Devices and select 'Connect to new phone' for the old handset and 'This is the new phone' for the new handset.

    4 - Select the device Android/IOS

5 - A QR code will generate on the new phone, use the camera on the old phone to scan this code to connect.

6 -  Select the content and transfer. Please note that on iPhone, not all  content could be available to transfer on account of it being stored on  the                   iCloud and not the phone itself.

Xperia Transfer

Xperia Transfer is another transfer app created by Sony

This app is available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

This works the same for Android over Wi-Fi and you will need a cable for iPhones.

Copy My Data

CopyMyData is a handy little app that only transfers contacts, calender's, photos and videos stored in the device memory.

This app works on both Android and Apple Devices and doesn't need any iCloud account details to work.

This will not transfer everything but is handy for a quick swap.

Move to iOS

Note: This can only be done when first setting up the iPhone via the set-up menu.

This is Apple's  official transfer app for moving data from Android to an IOS device.  This only works moving to an iPhone from an Android.

1 - Download Move2ios form the Google Play Store on your old Android device.

2 - Make sure that BOTH devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi. You can connect to the Wi-Fi on the iPhone set-up.

3 - When you get to the Apps & Data screen, select 'Move from Android'.

4 - Open Move to iOS on your android device and select continue. The iPhone should generate a code that you will be asked to type into the android             in order to connect. Once connected you should be able to select the content you want to transfer and hit 'Next'.

5 - This will transfer the data to the new iPhone and once done, just complete the setup as normal and everything should be in place by the time you             are finished.
